Shabba: We are staying focused
Life as a football player can be tough. When the games keep coming thick and fast in quick succession it is a test of one character and fitness.
I have been impressed with the way we have been able to retain our focus in the face of the unrelenting pressure. We are taking it one game at a time and keeping our eyes fixed on the targets we set ourselves as a club.
There is no doubt that we will be playing a big game tonight in the Nedbank Cup against FC Buffalo. There is no room for complacency simply because our opponents play in the lower tiers of the game. We will treat this game as any other and show Buffalo the respect they deserve.
We are expecting a tough game. I’m sure Buffalo are relishing the opportunity to cause an upset and eliminate the defending champions. That’s why we must be switched on from the first whistle.
We have worked hard and prepared ourselves for the fixture. All the players are fired up and we are looking forward to it.
The team is challenging in three different competitions which is very exciting in my opinion. It is taxing mentally and physically but we believe in ourselves and are taking it a game at a time.
We would rather be top of the league than doing the chasing, but we are not taking our top spot for granted. We are wary of the teams in our rear-view mirror, but like a one hundred metre sprinter, we know that stopping to look back and see where the chasing pack is could prove costly. We will just concentrate on running our own race and hopefully reach the finishing line first.
The main focus is our own game and what we have to do to keep the winning momentum going. So we are focused on ourselves and have to work hard as the season progresses.
The supporters should just rally behind us and we will do our best to make them proud.
Dankie Mr lover man SHABBAAAA!
