Shabba Day a success

The Siphiwe Tshabalala Foundation partnered by RedBull hosted a successful Shabba Day on Monday at the Nike Centre in Soweto.

The day was dedicated to giving the youth an opportunity to experience a day in the life of a professional football player. 16 Lucky boys from the Seana Marena High School got the opportunity to spend the day and train with Shabba.

The event started with the boys visiting the FNB Stadium for a tour of the world class venue and the very stadium where Shabba scored the first goal of the FIFA 2010 World Cup. Then the boys and the Kaizer Chiefs star made their way to the NIKE Centre in Soweto for a training session and lessons on how to become a successful soccer player.

“The day was a very good one. We were able to get the boys to the FNB Stadium and show them the very place where the first African world cup took place. I think that they were motivated by that and have also learnt something about the venue.

“We also had a successful training session at the NIKE Centre. I enjoyed showing the boys a thing or two about playing at the professional level. Sometimes it is not about what you physically give to these young dreamers but it is about showing them that it is possible to achieve your dreams. So I am happy that we were able to spend time together,” said Tshabalala.
