Shabba gets the arm band
Siphiwe Tshabalala has officially been named the Kaizer Chiefs captain for the 2015/2016 Absa Premiership season.
Now 30 years of age and carrying eight years of experience in the Amakhosi jersey, Shabba feels it is the right time to take the lead and he says he will do so with utmost respect.
“It is a great honor to be chosen to lead such a great team. I am happy to form part of the illustrious names that captained Chiefs in the past. I will be a great example on and off the pitch with the utmost respect for both the club and its supporters,” Shabba said.
Chiefs Football Manager Bobby Motaung wished the left footed midfielder the best in the team’s website:“We are happy for Shabba. He has experience and knows the culture of the Club. He deserves it, he is a quality player and leads by example. He is a leader among leaders at Chiefs.”
He was joined by new Head Coach Steve Komphela in congratulating the Bafana international.
“It is an honour that comes with a great responsibility for Shabba. He is capable – I think he will deliver as expected. Shabba has immense leadership qualities and more so, he works with a captains committee that will support him in his duties.”
