Shabba wary of Polokwane threat
Siphiwe Tshabalala says he is wary of the threat Polokwane City pose as they prepare to take on the Limpopo based side on Tuesday evening in a Absa Premiership fixture.
Coming from a 1-1 draw against Mamelodi Sundowns on the weekend Amakhosi will be looking to continue collecting points and carry the status of being the only team that is yet to lose a game this season.
“I know that people think it will be an easy game for us. That is not true as City are a formidable side. They are just like any other team in the PSL and are competing. Keep in mind that they also need the points just like we do. They will put up a good battle,” Shabba said.
The boys from Naturena have not lost to City who are on their second run in the elite league since gaining promotion back in the 2012/2013 season. Both teams have met only six times in all competitions since 2013 and Chiefs have won five matches and one match ended as a draw.
Amakhosi also carry a positive number when it comes to the goals they score whenever they play Polokwane City. They have put 16 goals past City in just six games.
With all the statistics favoring the current PSL log leaders Tshabalala says City cannot be taken lightly regardless of the statistics on paper. He insists that they will be out there to give a good account of themselves.
“We have a good record against them but that is just on paper. It is history really. City is a strong outfit and will be out there to do their job. We have to go out there and also do what we have to do. We will treat them like any other opponent and hopefully we get the desired results,” Tshabalala concluded.
