Chiefs to rub salt on Usuthu wounds
It is back to action for the Absa Premiership and log leaders Kaizer Chiefs will be battling against the mighty AmaZulu warriors.
AmaKhosi travel to the Moses Mabhida Stadium to get back to their winning form after their train was derailed by Moroka Swallows in a 1-1 stalemate and therefore dropped the first two points of the season.
The boys from Naturena still occupy the lead and are still eight points clear of second place Ajax Cape Town.
Usuthu on the other hand have not yet registered a single win. Out of a total of nine league matches played, they have drawn four and lost five. They will be looking to improve their home record of two losses and a draw.
AmaZulu are pinned at the bottom of the table with just four points from a possible 27 points.
Both teams have met 18 times in the league since the year 2007 with Kaizer Chiefs winning 12 matches compared to just one by AmaZulu and the remaining four ended as stalemates. When they met in the previous season Chiefs won both the home and away fixtures with a convincing 4-1 away victory and a 3-0 home victory.
The records look good for Stuart Baxter and his troops but remember that history is only legit on paper. Baxter will hope to revive the winning spirit of the team but will be without the recovering George Maluleka, Itumeleng Khune and Katlego Mphela. Josta Dlala is still sidelined with an Achillies Tendon injury.
The match is set for a 19:30 kick-off at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Wednesday evening.
