Baxter and his troops to stay focused
It will be another match to look forward to when Kaizer Chiefs take on Maritzburg United in the Telkom Knockout, according to head coach Stuart Baxter.
Chiefs have not set a foot wrong since the 2014/2015 Absa Premiership campaign began. They have won a total of seven league matches and lifted the MTN8 cup in the process. Now the next challenge is the Telkom Knockout competition and Baxter has downplayed talk of claiming the silverware, stating that it is about winning a match at a time.
Amakhosi have already defeated United once in the league, beating the Team of Choice 1-0 courtesy of a goal from the penalty spot. They will hope to overpower the men from KwaZulu-Natal at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
“We are totally not thinking about winning the cup. We are looking at the next game as a difficult tie and we hope we will proceed to the next round. That’s all what is in our minds, preparing well and that’s what we can control,” Baxter told the club’s official website.
Baxter will still be without injured duo Itumeleng Khune and Katlego Mphela. Siboniso Gaxa will also be missing as he is serving a suspension.
