Injury updates from Naturena
Kaizer Chiefs have been unable to name a full strength side this season, with Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala sidelined for the start of the campaign.
When the paired returned from their injuries, Itumeleng Khune and Katlego Mphela found themselves out of action with ankle and foot injuries respectively.
Mphela suffered the injury after scoring a goal in the MTN8 match against Platinum Stars, and was forced to undergo surgery, ruling him out for a number of weeks.
The Glamour Boys’ official website confirmed that Mphela is doing well and that he is a due for an X-ray next week. In the meantime, he is working on his strength and fitness in the gym.
Khune suffered an ankle injury at the beginning of September. The injury was diagnosed as a stress fracture and will see him sidelined for an estimated eight weeks.
The goalkeeper has been given the all-clear to begin his recovery without the assistance of a moon boot, with the injury said to be healing well. He will have a scan in two weeks to determine how long it will be before he can return.
