Shabba: Bright start brings confidence
Siphiwe Tshabalala says that the strong start Kaizer Chiefs have made to the new season has boosted the team’s confidence.
Shabba returned to action this month after suffering a knee injury early in the new campaign, and joined his team-mates in completing a successful first quarter of the season, which included winning the MTN8 trophy and registering seven victories in the Absa Premiership.
“It has been a great start to the season with the team winning seven matches in a row. We got the Innovation Q1 and that on top of the MTN 8 trophy has been a bright start. Regardless of the injuries in the team we have recuperated and it can only get better,” Shabba said.
“The spirit is high at camp and the players look lively and confident. I guess that is how any player would feel when all is going right for the team.”
The Glamour Boys now have the opportunity to lift their second trophy of the season in the form of the Telkom Knockout which gets underway this weekend. The speedy winger insists that it will not be an easy task because they have to beat Maritzburg United in order to progress.
“Coming up is the Telkom Knockout and we are featured against Maritzburg United who we just played against in the league. It will not be an easy match because we all know that the league is different from a cup competition. They are a strong team and will always pose a threat. We are prepared and shall see who wants it the most on the day,” concluded the 30-year-old midfielder.
