Shabba: Africa must shine in Brazil
Bafana Bafana international and Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala is backing African teams to shine at the FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil.
Despite Bafana Bafana failing to qualify, Shabba believes Africa will still have a strong representation at the tournament.
“I personally would like to see an African team do well. To put it out there I support the African teams that are going to represent the continent in the World Cup.
“Brazil stands a chance of winning because they are the hot favorites and they have a good technical team. Even though they have home advantage, they still have to play and compete for the honours.
“There will be a lot of competition as many teams have improved significantly since the last World Cup in South Africa.”
African teams that will be taking part in the 2014 Brazil FIFA World Cup are as follows:
1. Algeria: They topped their qualifier group and then went on to beat Burkina Faso 1-0 at home after they lost 3-2 away in the first leg. They qualified through the away goal rule. Their last world cup appearance was in South Africa in 2010 where they failed to progress from the group stages. They are ranked 25th in the world.
