Happy 44th Birthday from Shabba
Siphiwe Tshabalala, who is currently training with the national team ahead of the African Nations Championship in Cape Town, would like to wish his club, Kaizer Chiefs – a happy 44th birthday.
The club was founded on 7 January 1970 shortly after the return of Kaizer Motaung from the United States, where he played as a striker for the Atlanta Chiefs of the North American Soccer League (NASL).
In a statement made on the clubs website, Mr Motaung said that his day will forever be special in the history of Kaizer Chiefs.
“It is a moment of pride for the Club and the football fraternity to see the Club growing from strength to strength. I would like to thank God for this moment and may we all use this birthday as the Amakhosi family as an inspiration to reach for our dreams as individuals and a Team,” added the chairman.
“Shabba” joined the Amakhosi at the midpoint of the 2006/2007 season. He is currently enjoying his seventh year at the club.
In his time with the Naturena outfit, “Ntho tse Monate” has played in no less than 200 games for the club – with an impressive goals tally of 36, and has won at least six trophies with them (including a league title).
