Shabba behind the numbers

It was a season of near misses for Siphiwe Tshabalala and his team Kaizer Chiefs as they failed to win the Absa Premiership title and domestic cups.

As average as the season turned out to be, Shabba had a reasonable one and was definitely part of the reason the team was competitive in almost all of the available competitions.

The Bafana Bafana international featured in 29 matches for AmaKhosi in the PSL 2013/2014 season and contributed 12 assists as Chiefs finished second in the league. The highlight of the speedy winger would have been the showcasing of Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Champions League after a log burn from participating in Africa back in 2005.

He managed to feature in three matches and score a goal before their campaign sadly ended in the hands of AS Vita Club after a two leg affair with a 3-2 aggregate score.

In his over Domestic League career he has made 128 appearances for Chiefs, equalling 10294 minutes on the field. Scoring 28 goals and has been issued 13 yellow cards. Amazingly he has never received a red card so far.

For Bafana Bafana he has 66 appearances, four yellow cards, no red cards and has 10 goals under the national team.

Shabba said: “I think I had a good season though I know I could have done better. I do not regret anything though as I played my part in the team and for the nation. There was a lot of effort given and the outcome is not bad at all.”
