Tshabalala pays tribute to Katsande

Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala says team-mate and midfield hard man Willard Katsande deserved the awards he raked in for his sterling performances in the 2013/2014 season.

AmaKhosi hosted their annual awards in Kyalami on Wednesday where Katsande stole the show by hoarding a number of awards (Online Player of the Season: (R20 000), Fan Player of the Season: (R50 000) , Player of the Season: (R100 000 + Nissan 370Z sponsored car), Player of the Month (May) awards (R10 000), Players’ Player of the Season: (R50 000). Shabba reckons the all-action Zimbabwean’s contribution to the cause merited the accolades.

“Congratulations to Willard Katsande. He certainly deserved all the accolades he received on the night. He had a wonderful season and I wish him only the best going forward. He has served as an example of the rewards of hard work and hopefully he continues with the rich form next season.”

Tshabalala also declared himself satisfied with his own performances, but admitted they could have been better. The Bafana star is targeting significant improvement next season.

“Additionally I am content with the way I played this season. I think I did my part although it was not good enough.  I will have to make sure that I step up my game next season. When one does best for the team, they get rewarded in recognition and that encourages all of us to strive to be at our best,” Shabba said.
