“We wanted the game more than they did, that is why we won,” he added.

The 29-year-old says that the players are in good spirits following the success of the first match.

“We are confident and the spirit is high at camp. The players are happy and we are working hard as a team to get positive results,” he said.

Despite the impressive win in the opener “Shabba” is refusing to get carried away. In fact, the playmaker is targeting an improved team performance in the next match.

“We must play a lot better than in the first match. It is important to stay calm and take it one game at a time, though results are important as well.”

South Africa will take on Mali in their next match on Wednesday evening at the Cape Town stadium. “Ntho tse Monate” is enjoying his time playing in the tournament and is keeping his eyes firmly on grand prize.
